Lindsay & Christian // University of Chicago Rockefeller Chapel Wedding

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I’m steppin’ back a bit… going old school. And by “old school” I, of course, mean this past fall. I had a few really fantastic  fall weddings in 2010 that I haven’t had the chance to blog yet, so…I’m going to try to catch up a bit now.

Autumn started off with none other than the nuptials of Lindsay and Christian! I had the good fortune of getting to spend a fair amount of time with this pair prior to their wedding. My dear friend and fellow photographer, Nick Wrzesinski joined me on Lindsay and Christian’s engagement session nearly a year earlier, and the four of us became fast friends! So, as you can imagine,  having Nick second shoot this wedding helped to make it one of my favorite to date! The ceremony was held at The University of Chicago‘s magnificent Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. And the reception was to follow at the Abbington Distinctive Banquets in Glen Ellyn.  Lindsay and Christian’s friends and family were all so fantastic! It was so great to get to know them all a little better.

Lindsay and Christian- I’m so glad I have had the chance to not only be a part of your big day, but your lives as well! You guys are awesome!!!

A couple of my favorite of Nick’s shots.

Emily & Chris // Peoria Lifestyle Winter Session

Friday, January 14th, 2011

I was working in a coffee shop with Emily when she first met Chris. I remember at the time thinking they were such a cute and perfect couple. It was pretty obvious that these two were crazy about each other. Here we are seven years later and I’m amazed to find that they have somehow managed to become even more adorable and in love than ever!
It’d been entirely too long since I’d last seen these two, so it was not only great to get a chance to photograph them, but to catch up on old times as well. We ventured out to Jubilee Park to try to capture the beautiful snow left from one of our quintessential midwest winter storms. I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with Chris and Emily for braving the bitter cold that day! The arrival of the sun and a quick coffee break helped tame the chill a bit, but it wasn’t until the end of the session that we felt some real warmth at one of my favorite coffee shops in Peoria, Copper River. We managed to snap a few fun shots there as well.

Emily and Chris! Thanks so much for taking the time to catch up and for bearing the frigid weather with me!

Holiday Entertaining Class by Estera Events

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Last month, Hilary Schwartz of Estera Events hosted a beautifully designed holiday entertaining class in her fantastic new studio space. She had asked me to stop by to capture some of the evening’s details. I couldn’t resist posting some here! Hilary amazes me! She is an incredibly well organized and talented planner and is wildly creative as well. Not surprisingly, she has a background in both interior and floral design. She has a knack for gorgeous details!
The theme of the evening was, in Hilary’s own words, “Rustic Glam (I like a mix of rough and luxe, shiny and dull, you get the point…) and everything was designed to be easily recreated at home for a fun, festive Holiday party.” Read Hilary’s blog post to find out more about this class and possible similar opportunities in the future.
