I’m always excited about shooting at really great unique venues in Chicago. This fall I got to do just that for lovely Katie & Daryl. Their ceremony and reception took place at Revolution Brewing in Logan Square. This has become one of my favorite places to hang out and shoot in the city. If you haven’t been there you definitely need to check it out! They have incredible craft beers and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the bacon fat popcorn. That’s right…bacon fat!
Katie & Daryl were the genius behind all of their decor. They did an amazing job! This was a really fantastic wedding filled with love, friends, family and fun…not to mention a brewery tour :). I was super excited to be a part of this incredible event. Daryl & Katie, you guys are great!

Katie & Daryl // Revolution Brewing Wedding
Monday, November 19th, 2012Katie & James // Stowe, VT Wedding
Friday, November 2nd, 2012This wedding holds a very special place in my heart. Katie and her family have been dear friends of mine for a very long time. It was also my first visit to VT and I immediately fell in love! Burlington is one of my new favorite cities (which works out perfectly since I have such close friends there ;).
One of the best parts of shooting the wedding of a friend is that you get to be a part of every aspect of the day including the “First Look” which the bridal party is often not even present for. Their First Look was an incredible and I loved capturing it! Katie and James (the badasses that they are) trekked through some fairly rough terrain in full wedding garb to experience this special moment in a breathtaking location. I’d say it was worth it :).
Despite the threat of rain, it ended up being the perfect day for a wedding at the Stowehof Inn & Resort. I love this quaint, picturesque venue nestled in the mountains of Stowe. I can’t think of a more fitting place for Katie and James to begin their life together. I love when couples incorporate their personalities into their wedding…an the unique fingerprint of Katie and James was definitely all over this day.
Katie and James- Thanks so much for letting me experience this day with you! Love you guys!
Katie’s Brother-in-law Bob officiated his first ever wedding for these two. I have known Bob since the fifth grade so this was really cool for me to see as well.
Instead of a bouquet toss, Katie and James presented the bouquet to Katie’s great aunt Betty (an incredibly special woman to Katie and her family).
I love that Katie surprised James by singing “At Last” to him.
Emily & Mauricio // South Shore Cultural Center Wedding
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2012There is something incredibly special about witnessing the marriage of high school sweethearts. I think it’s the fact that you know they grew together in their relationship as they grew up together as individuals. That is the case with Emily and Mauricio. They voyaged with each other through the crazy incongruity of innocence and struggle that mark virtually everyone’s adolescence and came out stronger because of it. And I am really excited to have been a part of their very special union at the South Shore Cultural Center.
As always it was also my pleasure to work with the amazing Ali Phillips from Engaging Events by Ali and the super talented Alexandra Jusino from Exquisite Designs.
Ashley & Rhett // Wedding at The Peninsula
Friday, September 28th, 2012Ashley & Rhett, who hail from Laguna Beach, CA decided to have a destination wedding in none other than Chicago, IL. I’m not gonna lie, at first I thought that sounded like a funny idea. I’ve been to Laguna Beach. It’s amazing! A destination in its own right. But then I remember just how awesome the great Windy City really is and how, sadly, I have been taking it for granted as of late. In the end, I had to agree with Ashley & Rhett. Chicago is a pretty incredible place to have a wedding! And despite the crazy Chicago heat and humidity, this adorable duo still managed to look absolutely fantastic on their big day! I had a great time getting to know them when they came to Chicago for their engagement session this spring and an even better time getting to see them interact with their dearest friends and loving family.
I was super excited to work with Five Grain Events on this gorgeous wedding at The Peninsula hotel. They do an amazing job of making everything run smoothly. And Hello Darling transformed the ballroom with their incredible floral designs and decor!
Joanna & Erick // Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Wedding
Thursday, August 30th, 2012I’ve been dying to share this wedding! First of all Joanna and Erick are so great! I had such a great time getting to know them during their engagemet session. I knew their wedding would be amazing. And that it was! It was the perfect day for a beautiful and laid back celebration of these two. The details at this wedding were fantastic! Joanna has awesome taste and did such a great job of bringing she and Erick’s personalities into the day. The florals by Fleur were out of this world! I also loved getting the opportunity to work with Misha from Liven It Up Events. She did an outstanding job of making the day fun relaxing.
