I’ve been dying to share this wedding! First of all Joanna and Erick are so great! I had such a great time getting to know them during their engagemet session. I knew their wedding would be amazing. And that it was! It was the perfect day for a beautiful and laid back celebration of these two. The details at this wedding were fantastic! Joanna has awesome taste and did such a great job of bringing she and Erick’s personalities into the day. The florals by Fleur were out of this world! I also loved getting the opportunity to work with Misha from Liven It Up Events. She did an outstanding job of making the day fun relaxing.

Friday, August 24th, 2012Jake & Katie // Colorado Mountain Wedding // Part 1
Thursday, August 23rd, 2012I love this wedding for so many reasons, not the least of which is that the bride and groom are two absolutely amazing people that I love to pieces! I had the honor last month of photographing my cousin Jake’s marriage to the love of his life and childhood friend, Katie. I’ve been to few weddings that incorporate so much history, commonality and well…downright fun. For most of their lives, Jake and Katie’s parents have been friends, which means these two practically grew up together. One of coolest aspects of this day was that it was so much more than just a union of two individuals who love each each other, but the uniting of two families who adore each other. It was pretty awesome, to say the least!
The ceremony and reception took place at the Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort in Nathrop, CO. We took the majority of the bridal party photos at St. Elmo ghost town. That place is awesome and totally fit Jake and Katie’s rustic mountain themed wedding. This area of Colorado is very significant to these two as well. Jake’s family has owned a cabin in Buena Vista, CO for years and both Jake and Katie grew up spending many a vacation there. A few years ago, Katie’s parents moved to the same neighborhood in Buena Vista where Jake’s family has their cabin. Buena Vista is also the home of two Young Life camps. Both Young Life as an organization and these camps in particular hold a ton of history and meaning for both families. In fact, the officiant was the Young Life leader for Jake’s parents and Katie’s dad. And in true Rob and Steve (Jake and Katie’s dads) form, they couldn’t resist putting on a classic Young Life comedic skit at the reception.
Jake and Katie, I love you guys a ton! Thanks for letting me be a part of this incredible day!
Three of my favorite guys in the world. These boys have always felt more like brothers than cousins.
Jake’s dad wrote a song for them which he performed during the ceremony.
Jake had the brilliant idea of having all of their guest shoot off old west cap guns for their exit. It was awesome!!
Jen & Evan // Morton Arboretum & Downers Grove Wedding Photography
Thursday, August 9th, 2012I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this wedding. Jen & Evan are so incredibly sweet and laid-back. They made their wedding day a true celebration. Jen & Evan decided to go to Morton Arboretum for their first look and the photos of the two of them and their bridal party. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot. As you can see from the photos there is so much natural beauty in this place, which seems to suite this couple perfectly (we did engagement session at the Chicago Botanic Gardens last fall). Jen & Evan’s touching ceremony at Yorkfield Presbyterian was followed by a fun-filled, relaxed party at Carlucci’s restaurant in Downer’s Grove.
Jake & Katie // The Photo Booth
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012And yet another awesome photo booth turnout from yet another cousin. I must say, my family is getting really good at “photo booth choreographing”. :)
