Jen & Pete // Peoria Wedding Photography // Packard Plaza

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Yet another great fall wedding…Jen and Pete! Jen and I actually went to high school together. I love when my job reunites me with old friends! It was at Cara and Ryan’s wedding just about a year earlier that I reconnected with Jen and got the chance to meet her and her then fiance, Pete. They asked me to photograph their wedding and I couldn’t have been more excited! Although Jen and Pete met and were both living in Chicago at the time of the wedding, their ceremony and reception were held in Peoria, Jen’s (and my) hometown. The ceremony was at First English Lutheran Church, followed by the reception at Packard Plaza in downtown Peoria. All of the details and awesome fall decorations (most of which Jen and her family made themselves) were the perfect accents to a beautiful autumn day! But the thing I loved most about Jen and Pete’s big day was the abundance of love I saw. Jen and Pete are clearly surround by friends and family who absolutely adore them. I felt honored to witness the history and emotion behind every telling story, warm word, and affectionate tear from their guests. Thanks for letting me be a part of something very special, Jen and Pete! Congrats!!

Love the bouquet and Boutonniere by Heather Tidwell over at Bloom!

Jocelyn & Torsten // Peoria Wedding Photography // Hotel Pere Marquette

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Last year, I got the chance to do an engagement session with Jocelyn and Torsten. I had a absolute blast hanging out with these two! They are both just so cool! We were able to spend time getting shots that really expressed them well. It turned out to be one of my favorite sessions!
I suppose it should come as no surprise that their wedding was equally as enjoyable. Every detail from Jocelyn’s custom designed dress to the whimsical Dr. Seuss inspired cake reflected their unique style and light-hearted personalities. It was so much fun to capture them shine that day! Thank you, Jocelyn and Torsten for lending me a glimpse of your extraordinary lives!
I was also thrilled to once again be working with Jenn of Jennifer Kathryn Photography! She got some fantastic images that day!

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in downtown Peoria.

Love the shot on the right that Jenn caught!

I loved the addition of string lights to the Hotel Pere Marquette ballroom!

Lindsay & Christian // University of Chicago Rockefeller Chapel Wedding

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I’m steppin’ back a bit… going old school. And by “old school” I, of course, mean this past fall. I had a few really fantastic  fall weddings in 2010 that I haven’t had the chance to blog yet, so…I’m going to try to catch up a bit now.

Autumn started off with none other than the nuptials of Lindsay and Christian! I had the good fortune of getting to spend a fair amount of time with this pair prior to their wedding. My dear friend and fellow photographer, Nick Wrzesinski joined me on Lindsay and Christian’s engagement session nearly a year earlier, and the four of us became fast friends! So, as you can imagine,  having Nick second shoot this wedding helped to make it one of my favorite to date! The ceremony was held at The University of Chicago‘s magnificent Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. And the reception was to follow at the Abbington Distinctive Banquets in Glen Ellyn.  Lindsay and Christian’s friends and family were all so fantastic! It was so great to get to know them all a little better.

Lindsay and Christian- I’m so glad I have had the chance to not only be a part of your big day, but your lives as well! You guys are awesome!!!

A couple of my favorite of Nick’s shots.

Holiday Entertaining Class by Estera Events

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

Last month, Hilary Schwartz of Estera Events hosted a beautifully designed holiday entertaining class in her fantastic new studio space. She had asked me to stop by to capture some of the evening’s details. I couldn’t resist posting some here! Hilary amazes me! She is an incredibly well organized and talented planner and is wildly creative as well. Not surprisingly, she has a background in both interior and floral design. She has a knack for gorgeous details!
The theme of the evening was, in Hilary’s own words, “Rustic Glam (I like a mix of rough and luxe, shiny and dull, you get the point…) and everything was designed to be easily recreated at home for a fun, festive Holiday party.” Read Hilary’s blog post to find out more about this class and possible similar opportunities in the future.
