Marissa & Matt // Chicago Glessner House Wedding

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Marissa and Matt had the perfect summer day for their beautiful outdoor Wedding! The Chicago Women’s Park and Gardens set the stage for these two to commit their lives to one another. And the Glessner House Museum was an awesome backdrop to celebrate their new marriage with their closest friends and family. This was my first wedding at Glessner House and it may be one of my favorite new venues. The beautiful ivy covered walls and vintage charm were the perfect place to showcase the incredible details of Matt and Marissa’s low-key, eco-friendly wedding. An artist herself, Marissa’s creativity shown bright (as you can see) in the many D.I.Y additions to the day!  I adored the floral design provided by the incredibly talented, eco-conscious folks over at Pollen! And City Provision (a company that prides themselves on using local, sustainable, organic foods) created not only an aesthetically pleasing but unbelievably tasty spread!

Marissa and Matt, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you two throughout your wedding process and wish you all the best in your life together!!

Inspired Creations Contest // Brunch Wedding Reception Design // Salvage One

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Once again I had the pleasure of joining forces with two of my brilliantly creative friends, Kelly Marie Uss (from Fleur) and Suzy Rohan (from Lily Red Studio). This time we put our creative juices to work to participate in the Inspired Creations (glitter and glam themed) Contest hosted by Elizabeth Anne Designs and The Sweetest Occasion. I adore both of these blogs, so I considered it an honor to be able to take part in this contest! I must give a huge thanks to Salvage One (one of my absolute favorite Chicago venues) for allowing us to use their amazing space as a backdrop for our shoot. The exposed brink, wood beams, gorgeous chandeliers, vintage furniture and perfect glowing window light helped bring our ideas to life!

In the beginning stages of the planning process, we had decided we wanted to create something that was soft, warm, unique and easily replicable. An early brunch reception is a beautiful, relaxed, and often less expensive alternative to the huge, extravagant, evening reception. We wanted to add  warmth and a vintage flair to the glitter and glam theme, while still maintaining an organic, natural presence. So we figured what better way to enjoy brunch than with mini pancakes, french toast kebabs and honey. One thing I love about both Kelly and Suzy is their ability to take a simple idea and transform it into something extravagant. And that is exactly what they did here! Suzy’s paper products and branding were a perfect complement to Kelly’s florals and table design. I could not have been happier with the way this turned out!

To read more about it and see additional images, check out the post on Elizabeth Anne Designs. And to make your own amazing paper designs, check out Suzy’s detailed DIY instructions. If you feel so inclined, please leave a comment on Elizabeth Anne Designs…it helps our chances of winning!

Jen & Pete // Peoria Wedding Photography // Packard Plaza

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Yet another great fall wedding…Jen and Pete! Jen and I actually went to high school together. I love when my job reunites me with old friends! It was at Cara and Ryan’s wedding just about a year earlier that I reconnected with Jen and got the chance to meet her and her then fiance, Pete. They asked me to photograph their wedding and I couldn’t have been more excited! Although Jen and Pete met and were both living in Chicago at the time of the wedding, their ceremony and reception were held in Peoria, Jen’s (and my) hometown. The ceremony was at First English Lutheran Church, followed by the reception at Packard Plaza in downtown Peoria. All of the details and awesome fall decorations (most of which Jen and her family made themselves) were the perfect accents to a beautiful autumn day! But the thing I loved most about Jen and Pete’s big day was the abundance of love I saw. Jen and Pete are clearly surround by friends and family who absolutely adore them. I felt honored to witness the history and emotion behind every telling story, warm word, and affectionate tear from their guests. Thanks for letting me be a part of something very special, Jen and Pete! Congrats!!

Love the bouquet and Boutonniere by Heather Tidwell over at Bloom!

Jocelyn & Torsten // Peoria Wedding Photography // Hotel Pere Marquette

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Last year, I got the chance to do an engagement session with Jocelyn and Torsten. I had a absolute blast hanging out with these two! They are both just so cool! We were able to spend time getting shots that really expressed them well. It turned out to be one of my favorite sessions!
I suppose it should come as no surprise that their wedding was equally as enjoyable. Every detail from Jocelyn’s custom designed dress to the whimsical Dr. Seuss inspired cake reflected their unique style and light-hearted personalities. It was so much fun to capture them shine that day! Thank you, Jocelyn and Torsten for lending me a glimpse of your extraordinary lives!
I was also thrilled to once again be working with Jenn of Jennifer Kathryn Photography! She got some fantastic images that day!

The ceremony was held at the beautiful Sacred Heart Church in downtown Peoria.

Love the shot on the right that Jenn caught!

I loved the addition of string lights to the Hotel Pere Marquette ballroom!

The Dr. Seuss cake by brilliant artists at Wedding Cake Connection complete with moving gears.
